Rob's EL II XR8:

(Back to EL Visitors Cars.)

How many cars can look this good yet retain most of their factory inherent styling cues?  Talk about getting it right - right wheels, right stance, right height, the right sounds...  Beginning with a stock EL II XR8 (the one with 185kW stock from the factory) Rob began by doing a few small but highly effective modifications.

From the 17" Simmons wheels (17x8 front, 17x9 at the business end) to the new Pedders sports lowering kit & Momo twirler, Rob's choices didn't miss a beat.  While we're talking about beats, Rob made sure the interior 'tunes could keep up with the V8's new found voice via a new Pioneer stereo system on the inside and a full exhaust rebuild on the outer.  That is - Genie extractors leading into a single 3" system and 'custom box' with twin 2 1/2" hot dogs to get the sound just right.

And with a high flow air filter replacing the original, Rob's claims of 195kW seem entirely plausible especially considering the original restrictive exhaust now long gone.  With the full Tickford body kit ensuring this XR8 looks as fat as it sounds, anybody can see why this XR ain't particularly hard to live with!  It's great to see another EL XR8 making it's mark on the wider community (who couldn't help grabbing a gander as this XR8 whistles past) and we must say a big thanks to Rob for sending this one in - when a car looks this good you'll have no trouble grabbing our attention!
