Okay, okay - so the heading's not quite true but considering where Mark chooses to spend the majority of his time (Darwin) - there's endless possibilities when it comes to how he uses his spare time!. Including those vast plains where the only speed limit is that deemed sensible at the time - who can blame Mark for owning a fast car such as this? Having originally moved from the Surf Coast of Queensland, Mark was no stranger to heat but still gives the air con quite a work out come each summer as you'd expect.

And while he's been searching for any Ford based car clubs in an effort to join and go out and have some fun, so far he has come up with zilch - so if you know of any please give him a 'hoy' at tk0671@yahoo.com.au - I'm sure he'll be pleased to receive any information, no matter how small.

A great picture sent in by Mark of the EL XR when released at
the Motor Show of that time...

Kitted with Ford's then optional body kit
and 16" Tickford wheels, Mark's EL keeps ahead of the pack both in go and visual departments.
Which brings us to the EB XR8 shown here - traded in on the EL and Mark's first XR.
"I had the EB down to 16.15 seconds on the Gold Coast Surfer's Paradise Raceway." says
Mark showing the difference five years can make with the EL XR6 more than able to match or
better those figures while handling better at the same time!
Thanks go to Mark for sending these shots in and for the short story, and for making us green with envy at the unrestricted speed limits available in the top end... |

Mark's EB Falcon XR8 before trading it in on the EL XR6...

It doesn't look like it, but just imagine heat - and lots of
it too... Ahhh - there's nothing like a good Northern Territory summer for
a dip. - Just watch for those crocs! (errant XR6's also manage to
gobble up a fair share of the competition too!)
