Kim's EF GLi -'Neon Rules'

(Back to EF Visitors Cars.)

When Kim first got in touch with us, you could hardly tell what lay below the layer of mud and grime on his pride and joy!  Having purchased this beauty as a result of reading our Introduction pages, Kim selected a Series II EF as his starting point and considering the results achieved who could argue with that?

Kim's EF series 2 after travelling one of the roads near the mines in Central Queensland after rain...

Once purchased Kim wasted little time having his new pride and joy fitted with a set of King Springs quickly achieving the desired altitude, closely followed by a set of 16X9'' and 16X7'' ROH Milano alloys for that picture perfect look while achieving a bit of practicality at the same time - considering the roads that Kim has to travel.  But what has really amazed me is how tough they have managed to make the GLi look - putting many more comprehensively specified vehicles to absolute shame!  A definite eleven out of ten in the looks dept for this little black duck...

But as you may have guessed by now, that was only half the story...  Having just read Matt's feature (found on this site) on converting the EF and later dash to a 'neon' effect Kim decided to have a go himself and what a way to go!  Taking the genre to the next level, Kim's creative juices were working overtime when he decided to go for a trippy multi-coloured effect that almost promises to take over from all of the previous single coloured blue designs!

Kim put Matt's neon conversion tips to good use here...but with his own very original twist!

Since his first emails mechanically things have not been sitting still either - with a further altitude adjustment taking effect along with fitting Pacemaker extractors to the engine for the right note and a bit of extra poke.  Joining the neon dash lighting a set of blue coloured fog lamps were fitted into the brake duct recesses along with blue caps on the parking globes to give an aerie blue glow when parking.  All in all a very satisfyingly and originally done modifications route that generally just impresses the heck outa me every time!

Did you ever think a white car could look so damned tough?  Works well in the Outback heat too...

Now usually I'd reduce the physical size of most pictures sent to far smaller than this, but with the quality of Kim's shots I couldn't bring myself to do it.  Budding photographers take note - perfect lighting, perfect angles, perfect proportions...just perfect!

The view most rats would get - you'd run too!  The blue eyed monster cometh to eat you har har, har har...
