Fiona's Landy:

(Back to the Fairlane pages.)

Well, what can we say when somebody comes asking to put a car as good looking as this onto our Visitors Cars pages?  - How about 'awesome dude' or in this case it would be 'awesome dudette' since I'm sure owner Fiona would get very upset if we called her a guy.  - And rightly so, since when it comes to selecting a cool ride the fairer sex can do things every bit as well (or a bit better) than most of us - the proof being right here before you.

Fiona writes "I'm the proud owner of the '74 model Landau pictured.  I'd be honoured if you'd include it in your Visitors Cars section."  (So would we)  "I am the 4th owner and the car was previously used as part of a wedding car fleet." - no doubt helping keep the mileage down to an incredibly low 64,000 documented miles.  Fortunately for Fiona, the car came complete with full history records allowing the above mileage figure to be checked emphasizing what really is a very special car.

Original to start with, the only deviation from factory was the 12 slotters soon to make way for a set of original steelies, hubcaps and period perfect white-wall tyres.  With the factory standard 351 Cleveland already providing an already ample 290bhp @ 5000 rpm, Fiona chose to leave things along there too helping keep the pedigree of this truly rare classic.  Factory specs for the 351 include a 4V manifold with the whole shooting match backed by a FMX auto box, 9 inch diff & 4 wheel disc brakes (not even available on US Fords at the time!)

Fiona says everything on the Landy still works well and the car is still like new (doesn't that make you jealous?) including that fantastic hidden headlight front.  "It does very few miles these days, but when I take her out around Newcastle NSW where we live - it's a real thrill especially for a lady to drive."  Hear hear - it's great to see the girls able to have as much fun as the guys!
