Those of you who know me will know how partial I am to the EF's shape of all the E-series cars - with it's grill-less treatment of the nose on the GLi / Futura / XR's oh-so reminiscent of the Thunderbird of roughly the same time. Sent in by Daniel, this sliver beauty illustrates my point exactly! So when Daniel says "This is my 1996 EF Falcon Futura which I love and adore." we can understand completely!

Daniel's EF Futura - at a lookout at Forrestfield, Perth.
Purchased second hand in 2000, Daniel's 1996 model has lead a love-hate relationship which is fortunately biased towards the former although only just after buying it would have been hard to convince Daniel of it: "Within two weeks of purchasing it the head gasket blew - before this I had a 1983 Subaru which was plagued with head problems - my reason for going straight to a late model car in the first place." Ouch! Having fixed that and made sure everything on the cooling system was unky-dory again, Daniel's attention turned to lightly modifying his pride and joy.

Daniel and a few mates out and about near Perth...
Finding Ford's list price for it's 16" Tickford rims a little prohibitive, Daniel instead chose the ANZ versions of similiar appearance "I have actually grow to like the imitations more as they have a more aggressive shape in the spokes than the originals." Giving a bit more in the go dept a 2.5" Genie exhaust was fitted along with Genie extractors and high-flow cat for just the right note to boot. "She purrs beautifully now." Leaving the intake side of things essentially stock all Daniel chose to do was replace the standard filter with a freer flowing Finer Filter item providing a small but noticable difference.

Happy with Ford's interior Daniel fitted a Clarion head unit along with 6 stacker and replacement speakers giving a worthwhile difference in sound quality and usability. Keeping out the hot West Australian sun more recently the windows have been tinted and Pedders Sports-Ryder suspension fitted dropping the car a full 3cm at the front and 3.5cm at the back (not shown in these photos). Daniel reports "The handling now feels great and while I toyed with dropping the car to the next level (approx 5cm drop from original) I'm glad I stayed with the 3cm drop as it is noticeable, but I rarely have problems with the speed humps etc that I would have had with the 5cm drop." It's great to see another of Ford's finest appreciated in such a way - our best wishes for the future and hopefully no more head gasket issues!
