Andrew's EL Falcon GLi V2

'Refining the Sapphire':

When we left you with Andrew's neat and very cool looking EL GLi 'Sapphire' we left you with promises of more and here they are - larger than life and showing just what can be done with a little imagination...  Of course it helps when you start with a great example to begin with - which you can check out by going here...  But before you go - check out the rest of Andrew's pics & modification scheme...

Just sitting by the lake, lounging around...some days there ain't nothing better!

Check out those driving light pods - cleverly moulded into the stock front bumper!  Fat EL rear skirt & slim-line rear spoiler help emphasise the EL's "fat" stance...  Since these photos Andrew has installed a neat looking pair of 100mm spots in the front bumper improving the EL's light output no-end!

It's a look that has me doing summersaults - near stock EL interiors seldom looked this good from the factory!  It's amazing how well the silver high-lights suit the standard seat materials...

Boasting a list of modifications that suitably set it apart from the usual gaggle of stock Falcons - we rekon this is one of the nicest and most original EL GLi's around.  Check out some of these changes for example:
  • Tinted windows (necessary for keeping the Ballarat heat out).

  •
  • EL XR side skirts & rear apron.

  •
  • Customized front bumper with integrated 100mm driving light-pods (those who have driven Ford's EF & EL offerings will know how handy these can be!)

  •
  • Mesh grill insert & body colour painted grill bar.

  •
  • Body coloured mirrors & side bump strips.

  •
  • EF XR bonnet scoops reverse mounted.

  •
  • 'Sapphire' decals removed.

  •
  • 4.0 litre badging removed.

  •
  • Tickford 'wings' added in appropriate positions.

  •
  • Trip computer installed.

  •
  • Brake calipers painted.

  •
  • Powerchip.

  •
  • Brushed alloy interior accents.

  •
  • Blue/grey leather wrapped original steering wheel and auto shifter knob.

  •
  • White instrument faces.

  •
  • New exhaust tip to more adequately fill out the recess in body kit.

  •
  • Kenwood Subwoofer & 6*9's further adding to the interior delights...
- And that's all in addition to the mods listed in our earlier addition dealing with Phase I of Andrew's build!  So where to from here?

Could there be a turbo or supercharger in Andrew's future?  Or will he stick with atmo and further develop the concept courtesy of Mr Jim Mock?  For those and other similar questions, why not ask him yourself by going to our discussions pages or by going straight to the thread on Andrew's car itself.

What better view can we leave you with than this?  So which ever way you like it, you can see it here or check out Andrew's GLi before he began modifying...

Discuss Andrew's pride and joy here...
